Lyndon Baines Johnson Tribute

The tribute is traditionally held close to the President's birth date, allowing Texans and other admirers an opportunity to pay tribute to the late President. As in Stonewall, Texas, lemonade and sugar cookies will be served. Dress is casual and comfortable - no ties required

When: 10:00-11:00 a.m. - Saturday, August 23, 2003

Where: The tribute will take place at the granite monument in the LBJ Memorial Grove located off of the George Washington Parkway between the 14th Street and Memorial bridges. Parking is available in the Columbia Marina Lot.

Cost: Free!

Speaker: This year, Dr. Thomas Allen Schwartz will be our featured speaker. Dr. Schwartz is an associate professor of history at Vanderbilt University in Nashville Tennessee. Originally from Rochester, New York, Schwartz has studied at Columbia, Oxford, and Harvard University, where he completed his doctoral degree. His latest book, Lyndon Johnson and Europe: In the Shadow of Vietnam, highlights President Johnson's extraordinary conduct of diplomacy in Europe.

We hope you will come out and reminisce with your fellow Texans!
