Lyndon Baines Johnson Tribute

10:00-11:00 a.m.  --  Saturday, August 25, 2001

Speaker: Robert Dallek

Robert Dallek, renowned historian and author, will speak to the Texas State Society at the annual memorial tribute to former President Lyndon Baines Johnson.  Mr. Dallek has authored many books, including Lone Star Rising: Lyndon Johnson and His Times, 1908-1960, and Flawed Giant: Lyndon Johnson and His Times, 1961-73.

Traditionally held close to the President's birthday (August 27), this annual event allows Texans and other admirers an opportunity to pay tribute to the late President.  As in Stonewall, Texas (site of the LBJ Ranch) where the President's birthday celebration was first commemorated, lemonade and sugar cookies will be served. Dress is casual and comfortable -- no ties required.

We hope you will come out and reminisce with your fellow Texans at the granite monument in the LBJ Memorial Grove located off George Washington Parkway between the 14th Street and Memorial bridges. Parking is available in the Columbia Marina parking lot.
