Representative Louie
Gohmert (TX-01) presented East Texas Food Bank $10,000 on behalf of the Texas
State Society of Washington D.C., Friday, August 25, 2006, at the Food Bank, 3201 Robertson Road, Tyler, TX.
Gail Green,
Regional Director – East Texas, representing
John Cornyn, U.S. Senator Texas, presented a commendation from the Texas State
Society of Washington, DC: “Senator John Cornyn and the Texas State Society of
Washington, DC Commends the East Texas Food Bank for their steadfast commitment
to providing food, resources and support to displaced Texans and Louisianans
during Hurricanes Katrina and Rita.”
Robert
L. Bush, executive director for the Food Bank said, “I am particularly honored
to accept Texas State Society’s gift from Rep. Gohmert on behalf of the East
Texas Food Bank. Not only does Rep.
Gohmert represent us in Congress, he helps right here in East Texas.
Last year, he rolled up his sleeves and personally loaded and delivered
truckloads of relief supplies into impacted areas. This gift comes at an opportune time for
the East Texas Food Bank. Like many
nonprofits, we are coming off of our leanest months in terms of cash and food
donations; demand for food in East Texas is up
more than 20% over last year.”
