2016 Cherry Blossom Grand Ball with Sushi Reception (Coronation of the Cherry Blossom Queen)
Capping the week of activities is the coronation of the 2016 U.S. Cherry Blossom Queen at the Official Cherry Blossom Grand Ball. Guests at this elegant black tie affair enjoy complimentary Mu Sake, while sampling sushi specially created by the master Sushi Chefs of Washington. After dinner comes the Grand March and formal introduction of the Princess Class of 2016, in preparation for the much anticipated coronation. With a fateful spin, the Wheel of Fortune selects the princess who will serve as U.S. Cherry Blossom Queen during the 68th Anniversary year. For a few moments, she wears the priceless ceremonial Mikimoto Crown, a Japanese work of art. Then, as keepsake gifts from Mikimoto Co., Ltd., she receives a smaller crown and a strand of Mikimoto pearls.
